Dear Libertarian,

There is actually a little bit of good news: our petitioners in Illinois are collecting signatures faster than we had expected. The last report I received was that petitioners had already collected 17,161 signatures of the 26,600 the national Libertarian Party has committed to help Illinois with.

We allocated $66,500, and we have already sent $42,902.50 to Illinois to pay for these signatures. (While the national LP is helping with 26,600 signatures, the LP Illinois is committed to collecting another 15,400 on their own, for a total of 42,000 signatures.)

The bad news is that we are suffering a cash crunch. We have to pay these petitioners for each signature they collect, so the faster they work, the faster we run out of money.

Would you please donate today?

My last email to Libertarians like you raised less than $1,000. This has me in panic mode.

If we run short on cash, we'll have to put the work on hold. Then some of our professional petitioners might leave Illinois to go work on petition drives for other organizations that have the funds to pay them.

Now is not the time to let up.

Polls are showing more support for Libertarians and less for the Republicrats. We have to stay in the game to make a difference.

Illinois has recruited six statewide candidates for the November elections.

Sharon Hansen is running for U.S. Senate. From her website: "She is a wife, mother, grandmother and small business owner.  She knows how hard many families in America are suffering and our government is just making things worse with their poor choices."

Julie Fox is running for Comptroller. She previously served on the Libertarian National Committee, and has run for office before. She earned 4.2% of the vote in a previous statewide race for Comptroller. She has agreed to run again to support the Libertarian Party in Illinois.

Please don't make me tell Sharon Hansen and Julie Fox their campaigns are in jeopardy because we can't fulfill our commitment for the petition drive.

Please donate $200 or $100 or even just $25 today if you can.

Thank you,

Wes Benedict
